2. Andre Drummond
Outside of the wing, one of the positions that's most oft-discussed as being an area in need of bolstering is the pivot. With primary big Steven Adams out for the season as a result of knee surgery, the Grizzlies have struggled to find a quality replacement option for him within the rotation.
Considering he'll presumably be a full go come next season coupled with the fact that he's under contract through 2025, unless they can find a way to acquire a significant upgrade over their sidelined veteran, in the event that they look to trade for a center this season it might be wise to target low-cost talents who have a proven track record in the league.
One name, in particular, that should be viewed as a viable target for Memphis is Chicago Bulls big, Andre Drummond.
Though no longer seen as a viable All-Star candidate, the 12-year pro is still showing that he's more than capable manning the middle on the defensive end of the floor and can still gobble up rebounds at an elite level.
Conveniently, both are attributes the Grizzliescould certainly use more of.
Through 34 games played this season, Drummond is posting solid per-game averages of 7.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.2 steals on 54.0 percent shooting from the field whilst primarily serving as a reserve option.
However, if Memphis were to bring in the 6-foot-11, 280-pound behemoth, they'd more than likely look to him to become their new starting five for the remainder of 2023-24.
Interestingly enough, he's shown signs that he can still produce at quite an enviable rate in such a role, as he's posted a whopping 15.3 points, 21.3 rebounds (6.7 offensive), 2.0 steals, and 1.7 blocks on 66.7 percent shooting from the floor when starting for the Bulls this year.
Adding on his size and particular skill set via trade could be one of the best low-risk, high-reward transactions they could possibly imagine and must be seriously considered between now and February's deadline.
