Despite enduring a grueling gap season where they sport the seventh-worst record in the association at 20-36, the Memphis Grizzlies will still find themselves being represented at this year's All-Star Weekend with Vince Williams Jr. participating in the Rising Stars Challenge.
Though just sneaking into the festivities as an injury replacement for New Orleans Pelicans guard Dyson Daniels, considering his production throughout his sophomore season in the association the initial omission of the 23-year-old was deemed a snub job by fans and media pundits alike.
Now officially out in Indianapolis as he prepares for Friday's exhibition, Williams issued a message to Grind City nation on social media that showed his appreciation and gratitude for the franchise's faithful followers.
Vince Williams Jr. sends appreciative message to Memphis Grizzlies fans
"Honestly, I just want to say thank you guys for the opportunity. Just got done with media, I got practice soon. Go Grizz!"Vince Williams Jr.
One of the brightest spots of this year's campaign for the Grizzlies, Williams has been a true revelation for coach Taylor Jenkins' squad as he's developed into a true two-way difference-maker in just his second season.
Since becoming a full-time starter back in early January, the wing has put forth sensational efforts and averages, boasting a stellar stat-line of 15.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.6 steals, and half a block while shooting 48.4 percent from the field and 38.0 percent from distance over the last 18 games.
With his production on the year, Williams not only managed to earn himself the moniker of Rising Star, but he also had his two-way contract converted into a standard, multi-year pact with the club.
To say the sophomore has had a standout season to this point would be an understatement, and it's evident he's been grateful for all the opportunities given to him throughout the year.
His selection to All-Star Weekend was much deserved!
