The 2024 Paris Olympics came and went, and while plenty of NBA teams found themselves being enviably represented during the worldwide tournament the number of Memphis Grizzlies players participating in the festivities was severely lacking.
In total, the franchise had just one player make the cut for the prestigious games, as soon-to-be fourth-year veteran Santi Aldama served as one of the primary leaders for Team Spain.
Considering the star power coach Taylor Jenkins' roster possesses, this low level of Grizzlies engagement proved to be quite underwhelming for the Grind City fanbase.
Fortunately, with this summer's games officially in the rearview, the audition period for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics will soon commence, and, in a way-too-early manner, we at BSB project that four specific members of the organization will be found on the roster for their respective nations.
Grizzlies Player No. 1) Santi Aldama
As noted, Aldama ended up being the lone representative of the Memphis Grizzlies organization during this summer's Olympic games.
Serving as one of the primary contributors for Team Spain, the big man stepped up in major ways on the world stage, pacing the club in points (17.7), rebounds (9.3), and blocks (1.7) while converting at a lights-out 45.0 percent clip from distance through his three games of action.
From his incredible two-way play to his leadership and captivating drive that helped Spain pull off a surprise win over Giannis Antetokounmpo and Team Greece during their elimination matchup, Aldama proved to the masses why he deserved to represent his native country.
With his impressive production, coupled with the fact he'll only be 27 by the time 2028's tournament rolls around, there should be little doubt that he'll once again be repping the red and yellow threads of Team Spain in LA.
