4 Grizzlies who must play in 2028 Los Angeles Olympics
By Mark Nilon
Grizzlies Player No. 3) Zach Edey
This summer, Team Canada proved to be one of the more impressive teams participating in the Olympic games, as they showed they were capable of competing with just about anyone on any given night.
Though they ultimately fell short of placing for a medal, as they were eliminated by France in their Quarterfinal bout, with stud youngsters like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, RJ Barrett, and Andrew Nembhard leading the charge, it seems like the nation is built to accomplish great things down the road.
Heck, as far as their run in Paris is concerned, there were times when they legitimately seemed destined to meet the always-favored United States in the Final, though, as it appeared to be the case against Victor Wembanyama and company, they were missing a legitimate difference-making big man who is capable of combatting such star power.
In four years time, Zach Edey could realistically prove to be the answer to this rotational need.
Interestingly enough, Edey was expected to serve in such a role for Canada during this summer's festivities, though opted to pull out close to the roster finalization date in order to focus his attention on readying himself for his upcoming rookie season with the Grizzlies.
Being the decision was one he admitted was quite hard to make, the expectation at this point is that he'll be a full go for Canada's core out in Los Angeles, and his monstrous 7-foot-4, 300-pound build coupled with his strong two-way interior presence will be of great benefit to the team just as it would have been this year.
