Two teams with their sights set on the 2024 NBA Draft meet up in Memphis Monday night. The Brooklyn Nets are a slight road favorite despite three consecutive road losses.

Brooklyn hasn’t looked competitive since returning from the All-Star break, losing to Toronto and Minnesota on the road by double digits.

Memphis notched a pair of wins, including an upset of Milwaukee, leading up to the All-Star break before Friday’s 101-95 defeat to the Clippers. Can Memphis defend home court? Here’s the betting preview for Monday’s cross-conference matchup with a best bet.

Nets vs. Grizzlies key players to watch

Nets

Mikal Bridges: The Nets held onto the former first-round pick at the NBA Trade Deadline despite his name being floated around the rumor mill. Bridges is averaging 21.5 points per game this season but the last three games have been tough on the Villanova product. In that stretch, Bridges has gone just 18-of-49 from the floor and averaged 15.3 points.

Grizzlies

Jaren Jackson Jr.: Jackson’s scoring has increased every month this season and February’s been no different as the Michigan State product is averaging 25.4 points. He was the lone offensive bright spot for Memphis in the loss to the Clippers, netting 29 points and five assists. He’s been the team’s leading scorer in four of the last six games and has poured in 20-plus points in six of seven contests this month.

Nets vs. Grizzlies prediction and pick

Brooklyn has looked lifeless before and after the All-Star break, having not cracked 100 points in three consecutive contests. The Nets are one of the worst teams away from home on the season, going 9-16 ATS on the road. Brooklyn might have a winning record against losing teams (12-8), but laying points on the road hasn’t been the same story with a 1-4 ATS mark in those spots.

Meanwhile, Memphis is still putting up a fight, evident by its 10-10 ATS record as a home underdog while covering the spread in four consecutive games with a pair of outright wins as underdogs.

Brooklyn’s struggling offense meets a Memphis defense that is the backbone of the squad. The Grizzlies are No. 10 in the NBA in defensive rating and limit points in the paint (No. 11).

Brooklyn’s offense is 23rd in the league in scoring on the road and is middle-of-the-road (No. 16) from the perimeter. Don’t trust bad teams laying points on the road, even if the game’s lined close to pick ‘em. Back the Grizzlies to stay hot against the spread.
