After an embarrassing blowout loss to the OKC Thunder this past Sunday, the Memphis Grizzlies have a chance to redeem themselves and add another win to Taylor Jenkins' all-time record Tuesday against the Wizards.
At 11-53, Washington appears to be a rather easy opponent for Grind City to square off against, though, considering their continuously long injury report, their lack of available talents may hinder their odds of getting back into the win column.
Despite the fact that we are now four weeks out from Scotty Pippen Jr.'s back ailment that initially was suggested to hold a three-week recovery period, it appears the Grizzlies will likely once again see the point guard sidelined in their upcoming bout against the Wizards, as he is currently listed as "doubtful" due to a bulging disc in his lower back, as per the NBA.
Scotty Pippen Jr. 'doubtful' to return to Grizzlies vs Wizards
Before going down back in mid-February, Pippen found himself producing admirably with the Grizzlies and, through his final seven games of action leading into the injury, was posting impressive averages of 11.6 points, 5.0 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.1 steals while shooting 47.4 percent from the floor and 56.5 percent from deep.
Hopefully the 23-year-old can make his way back to the lineup sooner rather than later so he can showcase his skills and value to Memphis ahead of the expiration of his current two-way contract this coming summer.
Wizards injury updates ahead of Grizzlies matchup on March 12
As things currently stand, the Wizards have four players already ruled "out" for Tuesday's contest, though the only player of real note listed is Marvin Bagley III who finds himself nursing nagging lower back spasms.
