The Grizzlies are 1-1! Here's how to watch their third preseason game at the Bulls
The NBA preseason has been a mixed bag for the Memphis Grizzlies so far as they have split their two games, winning at Dallas but losing at home to the Charlotte Hornets. The team hasn't had their roster to full capacity yet either, but their opponents haven't been at full strength either.
In their first preseason game at the Dallas Mavericks, the Grizzlies played without starting power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. along with reserve wings GG Jackson, Vince Williams Jr., and two-way guard Cam Spencer. However, the Mavericks were without four of their five starters Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, and P.J. Washington.
In the Grizzlies' second preseason game, Ja Morant and Brandon Clarke missed along with the same names above. Meanwhile, Charlotte was without their starting point guard LaMelo Ball, and reserve wing Josh Green. That is typically for not only the preseason but also the NBA regular season with injuries and rest.
When and how to watch the Grizzlies at Bulls
The Grizzlies and Bulls will tip off at 7:00 PM CST on October 12th. The game will be televised only on NBA League Pass, which is offering a 7-day free trial for new users to enjoy the game.
What to watch for in Grizzlies at Bulls
The Grizzlies have been tinkering with a new offensive system to mixed results, as expected, with it being new and the roster turnover of players available to play in the preseason. However, one thing has been noticeable with this new Grizzlies offensive system, and that has been the lack of post touches to the 7'4" rookie center Zach Edey.
This new system has allowed the Grizzlies to run more up-tempo, provide consistent player and ball movement in the halfcourt, and produce more three-point shot attempts to which Zach Edey attempted three of his eight shot attempts against the Hornets from behind the three-point line. The players are noticing that they have to get better at getting him the ball when he has his man sealed down low as well.
Due to the up-tempo style the Grizzlies want to play with, Zach Edey won't get the same touches he got in college, and that was the expectation coming in with the likes of Ja Morant and Desmond Bane on offense. However, look for the team to look to find ways to utilize his skill set down low because the game will slow down in certain matchups and the Grizzlies have a big target that can offset their past issues in the halfcourt offense.
