The NBA preseason continues for the Memphis Grizzlies as they host the Charlotte Hornets for their first home game of the 2024-25 preseason. The Grizzlies have mostly been away from home as they held their training camp in Nashville due to ongoing construction at the FedExForum.

The injury list took a hit during the Grizzlies' first preseason game, a 121-116 victory over the Dallas Mavericks, as Ja Morant twisted his ankle and had to leave the game twice due to that issue. The injury is not expected to be serious but the team will be cautious, so expect him not to play in this matchup. That adds to the list of Jaren Jackson Jr. Cam Spencer, Vince Williams Jr., and GG Jackson who will likely not be available in this matchup.

When and how to watch Grizzlies vs Hornets

The Grizzlies and Hornets will tip off at 7:00 PM CST on October 10. The game will be televised on NBA League Pass and the Bally Sports network. The Bally Sports network for this game includes Bally Sports Midwest, Bally Sports South, Bally Sports Southeast, and Bally Sports Southwest. Blackout restrictions may apply for NBA League Pass subscribers if Bally Sports is available in their area.

What to watch for in Grizzlies vs Hornets

With Ja Morant likely out for this matchup, it will be interesting to see how the Grizzlies determine the starter in his place. They could move Marcus Smart to point guard and start either Luke Kennard, Jake LaRavia, or John Konchar. Also, they could move Marcus Smart to point guard and slide Santi Aldama from power forward to small forward, and start Brandon Clarke.

The likely choice will be inserting Scotty Pippen Jr. into the starting point guard slot as Marcus Smart played minimum minutes at point guard in the team's first preseason game against the Mavericks. An intriguing player to watch is rookie second-round pick Jaylen Wells and how he integrates into the rotation.

The 6'7" rookie forward stole the show in the fourth quarter of the Grizzlies' preseason win over the Dallas Mavericks. He played the entire fourth quarter after not playing through the first three-quarters of the game and finished with 13 points and two rebounds on 3-5 shooting from three, including the game-sealing three with 40 seconds remaining that gave the Grizzlies a seven-point lead.

Jaylen Wells figures to enter the 10-man rotation if Ja Morant does miss this matchup, so look for him to display his three-and-d skill set with some of the regular rotation members.
