This one alarming stat says everything about the Grizzlies' struggles

The Hawks absolutely torched the Grizzlies' perimeter defense.

Grizzlies fans will want to pretend that this game didn't happen at all. Despite Jalen Johnson being out for the Hawks, it was a blowout loss for the Grizzlies as they lost 146-107. The Grizzlies are missing plenty of players and even had to sign Tyler Burton and Dejon Jarreau to second 10-day contracts.

Even though the Grizzlies have clearly made draft positioning a priority, tonight's game was just uncompetitive from the start. To make matters even worse, the Grizzlies were on the receiving end of the Hawks tying a franchise record.

It is never ideal to see the opposing team tie a franchise record, especially for made threes. The Hawks ended up hitting 25 three-point shots and shot 46.3% from three for the night. It is simply difficult to beat any team that shoots that well from behind the arc. Ultimately, this is the newest of the lows of the Grizzlies' rough 2026.

It was a balanced effort from the Hawks

Nickeil Alexander-Walker has been on an absolute tear lately and had another strong game against the Grizzlies. Alexander-Walker scored 26 points and had 6 assists. It was a very efficient night for him as he shot 8 for 11 from the field and went 4 for 6 from three. Alexander-Walker would've been a great free agent signing for the Grizzlies this past summer, but ultimately he is thriving in his first season with the Hawks.

CJ McCollum has consistently given the Grizzlies problems, and tonight was no different. McCollum had 15 points and 9 assists, while also adding 3 threes. Newly acquired Jonathan Kuminga ended up making 4 threes, and Corey Kispert and Keaton Wallace both also ended up hitting 3 threes each. Dyson Daniels is also starting to get his confidence back shooting behind the arc.

It was simply a challenging game for the Grizzlies given their missing personnel, and the Hawks were dialed in early. The most impressive part of the Hawks hitting 25 threes is that they had 11 different players make at least one three-point shot. The Hawks have had serious momentum this month, but this was by far their best perimeter shooting night of March.

The Grizzlies will likely not win many games the rest of the way. However, this game specifically was alarming just because the effort was much worse than most of the previous losses. The team is simply outmatched right now talent-wise, but this was easily one of the worst performances of the whole season.
