The NBA's city edition uniforms have been present since the 2017-18 season, and have included each team featuring a different iteration every season. The Memphis Grizzlies have had some good-looking ones throughout their tenure due to the detail they present to showcase the city with its design.
This year's jersey is called "Going Platinum," which pays tribute to the historic Stax Records, which was located in Memphis and produced many of the great soul musical artists. Isaac Hayes was a key figure at Stax Records, as he helped define soul music in the 1960s and 1970s, so the team designed their 2025-26 city edition uniforms to showcase him.
During the 2020-21 season, the Grizzlies produced a similar design to this year's jerseys with the black jerseys and called them the Soul edition. This season, a similar design was made, but with the white and platinum colors. The uniforms are so smooth that they have the team feeling invincible when they wear them on the basketball court.
Memphis is 4-0 in the Going Platinum City Edition Uniforms
It is very early, as the team has 13 more games scheduled to play in their new city edition uniforms, but their early returns are promising for the cause. They debuted the jerseys against the Sacramento Kings on November 20th and won the game by 41 points. That also stopped a streak in which they lost five straight and nine out of their previous 10 games.
Since they've debuted those jerseys, they have won eight of their last 11 games, with four of their wins coming in those jerseys. That stat also includes them beating the Los Angeles Clippers twice in those jerseys, with their latest win coming in the Intuit Dome for their third win against them overall this season.
Their next game is against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and they are scheduled to wear their city edition uniforms. The Grizzlies currently have a 1-12 record against teams with a .500 or better record, so continuing their undefeated streak in the city edition uniforms would be welcomed against the 17-9 Timberwolves.
To continue, three of the Grizzlies' next four games in their city edition uniforms will come against the teams ranked in the top six of the Western Conference, including the league-leading Oklahoma City Thunder. If their uniforms have some kind of special effect to produce better results, now is the time to start beating some better teams, as the opportunity will be presented for them.
