As the 2024-25 NBA regular season inches closer to tipoff, several major sports outlets are releasing their NBA Top 100 player list. The Grizzlies find themselves with four players consistently ranked throughout each ranking. The rankings vary for each outlet between these players and ESPN hasn't completed releasing the top 10 of their list.

The players who rank are Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane, and Marcus Smart. Those four names make the most sense as the Grizzlies' success this season will be determined by the health and performance of that unit collectively.

As ESPN awaits releasing the top 10 of their top 100, here is where each player ranks throughout the rankings.

Ja Morant

Action Network: 17

The Ringer: 24

CBS Sports: 16

Hoops Hype: 19

ESPN: 20

With the highest ranking being a 16 and lowest being 24, Ja Morant is firmly entrenched among the NBA's elite but a notch below the best the league has to offer. He has a chance to prove he belongs in the top 10 of the league's best this season.

Desmond Bane

Action Network: 42

The Ringer: 47

CBS Sports: 45

Hoops Hype: 49

ESPN: 60

Consistently ranking in the 40s across the board, Desmond Bane felt slighted by his ESPN ranking. 60 is a pretty steep drop from his second-lowest ranking of 49, so expect a motivated Bane to show he is an All-Star caliber player this season.

Jaren Jackson Jr.

Action Network: 43

The Ringer: 45

CBS Sports: 43

Hoops Hype: 42

ESPN: 55

Similar to Desmond Bane, the 2023 All-Star and Defensive Player of the Year winner was consistently ranked in the high-mid 40s except for the ESPN rankings, which ranked him 12 spots below his second-lowest ranking. Jaren Jackson Jr. showed significant improvement in his offensive game last season and is expected to show why he was an All-Star and Defensive Player of the Year again this season.

Marcus Smart

Action Network: 99

The Ringer: 92

CBS Sports: 93

Hoops Hype: N/A

ESPN: 83

The consistent comments with Marcus Smart's ranking was last season's injury-riddled season dropped his status among the NBA's high-level role players. He has the respect as one of the league's best as a former Defensive Player of the Year winner, so expect him to reintroduce himself as one of the NBA's best defenders this season.

The rankings vary throughout each major outlet because it is all opinion based but the area of where the players ranked was pretty consistent across the board. It is up to the players to prove the lowest rankers wrong. Shoutout to the 3 The Hardaway podcast as they had Ja Morant ranked 13, Jaren Jackson Jr. ranked 33, and Desmond Bane ranked 39 in their top 50 player rankings.
