The Memphis Grizzlies can now prepare for their opponents as the NBA has finally released the official schedules for the 2015-16 season.

The National Basketball Association officially released the official regular season schedule for all 30 franchises on Wednesday after much anticipation.

Which opponent will the Grizz play first? When will Memphis’ biggest foes arrive in the 901 to duel in the Grindhouse?

The Memphis Grizzlies will begin the upcoming season on Wednesday, October 28th, with homecourt advantage against the Cleveland Cavaliers–last season’s winner of the Eastern Conference Finals. Not only will LeBron James be coming to M-Town on this day, but it will mark perhaps the greatest competition for the Grizz in a home opener.

There have been several significant changes to the regular season schedule. The NBA has been looking to improve the schedule in an attempt to lessen the quantity of injuries per season and it looks as if it will be successful. In case you are wondering, there will still be 41 home battles and 41 away games.

Most importantly, the Memphis Grizzlies will be gaining more national attention by receiving 10–yes, 10–nationally-televised games for 2015-16’s regular season. These games will include opponents by the likes of: Portland (Thursday, November 5th on TNT), San Antonio, Chicago, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago, and Los Angeles Clippers, respectively. There will be five nationally-shown games on TNT and five on ESPN. Of course, these are all subject to change.

The annual NBA All-Star Weekend will now stretch through one additional day and take place from Friday, February 12th through Monday, February 15th. Grizz Nation saw Marc Gasol receive votes from around the world to solidify himself as the Western Conference’s All-Star Game starting center this past season–the first time this has happening in Memphis’ franchise history–but can he do it again? Can Mike Conley finally earn an All-Star bid?

There will be a grueling end to the regular season for the Grizzlies–a perfect test for them when they should be preparing for the postseason. Their final three games will run as follows: home versus Golden State, home versus the Los Angeles Clippers, on the road against Golden State.

This final sequence of games could play a major role in playoff positioning and the Memphis Grizzlies could get some revenge on the Warriors as well as keeping their foot down on archrival Clippers.

There was initially a rumor that the NBA would be cutting down on the amount of four-games-in-five-nights scenarios. This held true and there are zero four-in-five stretches in the 2015-16 schedule for Memphis. The most drastic lengths are a few three-games-in-five-nights. This will be soothing for the Grizzlies so, as an older squad, their players will receive more rest and hopefully have fresher legs in order to be at their peak by playoff time.

Also, there will be 16 back-to-back (two-games-in-two-nights) scenarios on the Grizzlies’ schedule. They will tip the season off with a back-to-back (versus Cleveland and Indiana, respectively) and end on a back-to-back (versus Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State, respectively).
