The Memphis Grizzlies’ “Grizz” receives league-wide recognition for his talents in the 2014-16 NBA season.
The Memphis Grizzlies typically take home some hardware at the end of each season via individual awards.
For the most part, a Grizz player will be honored for their defensive ability and/or they will land on an All-NBA team. Sometimes it is another guy receiving community assistance recognition for giving back. It is becoming more common by the year to see the NBA honor someone from the Grizzlies’ roster.
Now it has expanded to more than just the Memphis Grizzlies’ players receiving awards for outstanding performances.
Yes, Memphis’ mascot, “Grizz,” has receiving an NBA award for one particular stunt this past season.
Natch the Bear, Memphis’ first bear mascot, came out to duel on the court with Grizz during a Memphis Grizzlies versus Portland Trail Blazers game. Natch was wearing a Blazers uniform.
At first it looked as if, once attacked, Grizz was going to be thrown out of town by Natch; however, it went downhill from there for the original bear. Grizz showed him who runs the 901 now.
To end the stunt, Grizz jumped from a tall ladder to smash Natch the Bear out of Memphis. It definitely became all “Grizz” Nation.
