Mike Conley led the Grizzlies throughout the game and finished with a very impressive stat line of 35 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. But it was Gasol who would hammer the nail into the coffin as he hit the game-winner with less than a second left in overtime. The Grizzlies were able to weather the storm from Kawhi Leonard, who scored 43 points including San Antonio’s last 16 points in the fourth quarter. Gasol’s shot was historic. It was the first go-ahead field goal in the final 10 seconds of postseason play in franchise history.
Side note: Gasol’s shot also made history as it was the first shot in franchise history to send a fan into labor.
