Lorenzen Wright has to make the list. He was a hometown hero who came to Memphis and gave everything he had for the team and the community. Ren was never a star among NBA players, but he was vital to the franchise establishing itself here in Memphis.
I thought a long time between Pau and Z-Bo, but in the end, it was Pau who established the Grizzlies as a playoff team first. He was the franchise’s first Rookie of the Year and their first All-Star.
Marc went to High School in Memphis and was the first Grizzlies player to win a veteran’s award when he was named Defensive Player of the Year. The brother connection with Pau extended beyond family to the court when he was traded for Pau too. Marc also earned the first starting position on the All-Star team.
The final choice came down to Mike Conley and Zach. Randolph won out for two major reasons. He was huge in the Grizzlies first playoff series win, and he has been selected to two All-Star games. — Chip Crain
