Memphis Grizzlies Opening Night: 3 things to watch for
No. 1: Tony Allen’s return
Most opening nights around the league will be about new faces, new offensive looks and improved play from young players.
For the Memphis Grizzlies, it’ll primarily be about the return of Tony Allen, a player who turned this franchise around and led them to the playoffs.
The “Grindfather” Tony Allen will receive a huge ovation. There will probably be a tribute video that’ll be played at some point during the game. It’ll be a time for fans to reminisce the good times with everybody’s favorite goofy, towel-waving, screaming, diving, ball-snatching, layup-missing, First-Team All-Defense shooting guard.
It’s going to be weird seeing Tony Allen in another uniform, but getting to re-live some of this greatest moments will be a highlight for the evening.
