Josh Okogie

Josh Okogie is a guy who can straight get buckets. He filled it up during his two seasons at Georgia Tech, which is why he is going to be selected on Thursday night. Whether that is in the first round, or dropping far into the second round, it will still happen. His wingspan to go with that offensive game is gonna be too much for teams to pass on.

He averaged 18.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game this season. That was a 2.1-point increase from his freshman season. He averaged 1.8 steals and 1.0 blocks per game this season. He has a 7’0″ wingspan so he should be able to have a big impact on that end at the next level.

Guys with that long of a wingspan sometimes struggle to shoot, but that has not been a problem for him so far. It could become an issue at the next level when he is asked to step out even further, but it does not seem like that will be the case. He is a good scorer, and even if he is not a great three-point shooter, he will at least be good enough from out there.

One of the stats that stood out to me is the difference in three-point attempts from his freshman to sophomore season. Okogie shot just two his freshman season. During his sophomore year, he bumped that up to 4.2 shots per game.

The percentage was about the same, which is good to see. Him shooting that much more shows me how much more confident in his shot he became, which will be great for him in the NBA.

Josh Okogie is also a very capable finisher. I know this is not actually an in-game dunk, but it still shows his athleticism and his ability to finish through an opponent.

Okogie has the skill to become a very successful pro. He is just 19 years old, so he has a lot of time to develop. Hopefully he goes to a good situation where he can be successful. Whether that is in Memphis remains to be seen. Some mock drafts actually have him going 32nd to the Grizzlies.
