Montrezl Harrell, 2015

Dork Elvis nailed this second-round pick, snagging the high-motor Lousiville big. Despite being undersized (6’8″) with no outside game, Harrell bullied his way to an effective role in limited minutes.

Houston shipped Harrell to the Clippers last summer in the Chris Paul deal, which, safe to say, worked out for everyone. Montrezl exploded in a bench role for the injury-ravaged Clips, posting the league’s 12th-best PER.

While his archetype seems increasingly obsolete in today’s game, Harrell has proven himself with smart play and hustle. He looks to be a long-term fixture in NBA rotations.

Best Snubs: Willy Hernangomez (35), Richaun Holmes (37), Josh Richardson (40)

KJ McDaniels, 2014

McDaniels is strong evidence that situations can mean everything for late picks. A darling of the early-Process Sixers, McDaniels was hyped initially for his athletic three-and-D upside.

Of course, the Sixers needed more picks (six in this year’s Draft), so McDaniels was dealt to the Rockets. A horded asset for Daryl Morey, KJ rotted on Houston’s bench for several seasons, stunting his development.

From there, he bounced from a brief stint with Brooklyn to the G-League’s Grand Rapids Drive. He remains a “what-if” tale of interrupted NBA potential.

Best Snubs: Joe Harris (33), Spencer Dinwiddie (38), Jerami Grant (39), Nikola Jokic (41)
