Greatest Memphis Grizzlies Of All-Time: Vince Carter
By Chris Kern
Vince Carter may be known for his play on other teams, but he still had a big impact in his time with the Memphis Grizzlies bringing V.C., at number 18 on our All-Time Grizzlies List.
Carter was an eight-time all-star early in his career. The last of those was in 2006-07 so to say he’s past his prime is an understatement. He is very much deserving of his spot of #18 on this list.
His Time In Memphis:
Vince Carter spent three seasons in Memphis. He signed before the 2014-15 season and then left to sign with the Kings before the 2017-18 season.
He didn’t start a lot of games but he still played a big role on this team. He played over 16 minutes per game his first two seasons here. His role was even bigger the next year as he played over 24 minutes per game and started 15 games.

Carter’s role in the playoffs was huge for this team. He helped the Grizzlies to their playoff series win in 2014-15. They beat Portland in five games before losing to Golden State in six games.
He started every game in both series the next two years in the playoffs, both were against the San Antonio Spurs. In 2015-16 the Grizzlies had most of their key guys out due to injury so Carter was one of the best players they had. The Memphis Grizzlies got swept that series.
In 2016-17 when they were healthy Carter still played a huge role. They lost to the Spurs in six games but it was a tough, hard-fought series by both teams. Carter averaged 9.2 points and 3.3 rebounds in 32.5 minutes per game.
After that season the Grizzlies went away from the Grit-and-Grind era as we saw Vince Carter, Tony Allen, and Zach Randolph all leave Memphis.
Carter averaged 6.9 points and 2.5 rebounds per game over his 199 regular season games with the Grizz.
