Better Than Sneaking into the Postseason

Brendan Smart: “My Memphis Grizzlies-inspired bold prediction is if the team stays healthy, they will earn higher than a seven-seed in the Western Conference.

I like Memphis’ depth at each partition heading into this season versus several other rosters. Of course, the additions will have to get used to each other and form chemistry. I think a unit of Shelvin Mack, MarShon Brooks, Dillon Brooks, JaMychal Green, and Ivan Rabb rolls well together because each one offsets the others’ weaknesses.

With the guard spot, you have a sturdy floor general in Mack. Then, MarShon and Dillon complement each other on the offensive end. With Rabb and Green, JaMychal will grab boards while Ivan runs the floor.

Of course, this scenario is after everyone gets comfortable with one another. Also, you have to think about a guy like Garrett Temple, who adds more depth to the two guard spots off the bench.

Memphis is in a better place than most NBA teams right now that many say are ahead of this Grizzlies team in the Western Conference. The key is if this team can stay fully healthy over the course of the 82-game schedule.”
