Takeaways From The Memphis Grizzlies Win Over Denver
By Chris Kern
Jaren Jackson Jr Is Special
Jaren Jackson Jr played his best game of the season against Denver. He did put up 24 points and 7 rebounds against Atlanta but his impact in this game was much greater.
The Grizzlies were down 47-40 with a few minutes to go before the half and he sparked a 10-0 run to take a 50-47 lead going into the half.
He did a great job finishing above the rim. He had a couple alley-oop slams but he also had a couple putback dunks.

We hadn’t seen him be this aggressive at the rim in previous games. He has done a great job taking opposing bigs off the dribble and finishing with the left hand which we saw tonight but he took his game to another level tonight.
Despite his shooting struggles from deep to start the season, he has continued to shoot them and the coaches clearly are confident enough in him to allow him to continue shooting them.
He made two of the five three-pointers he shot today. If he can hit shots from the outside consistently he will become extremely tough to defend.
His offensive game was great today but he may have also made his biggest impact on the defensive end that he has all season.
He had three steals and three blocks that were huge momentum boosters for the Grizzlies. On a night the refs were calling some ticky-tack foul calls Jackson was able to stay out of foul trouble.
He committed just two fouls which led to him playing a season-high 33 minutes. It was more than just the highlight plays he was making though.
Jackson did a great job defending Paul Millsap. Millsap went just one for seven from the field and he finished with just two points.
Jaren Jackson Jr showed all of Memphis why he was selected with the 4th overall pick. If he and Gasol can play as they did in this game, they will form one of the best big man duos in the league.
