Playoff Battle-Tested

The goal that Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff and the Memphis Grizzlies’ Front Office shares in 2018-19 is reaching the postseason.

In the NBA’s tight Western Conference, if you reach the NBA Playoffs, you at least have a chance at earning hardware. If anyone knows about causing chaos in the spring months, it is definitely the Grizzlies.

Memphis has their youthful pieces that they have been needing for a few seasons. They have the well-rounded coaching staff necessary to develop those youngsters. The icing on the cake now, much like the Shelvin Mack offseason addition, is the focus shifting back to veteran presence.

The Grizzlies are looking to tie some ends together by addition a final touch of veteran leadership and mentorship to the roster. Joakim Noah would be a great option to throw into a playoff series, and it would be a unique opportunity for Ivan Rabb to learn from yet another former All-Star center.

Noah has appeared in 60 career postseason contests, logging over 2,000 playoff minutes. He made a name for himself with big playoff victories over LeBron James-led squads in the Eastern Conference.

Memphis is proving to be a true darkhorse in the West this season. If this holds true come April, a minor move such as signing Joakim Noah to a veteran’s minimum deal could be the slight edge they need to make advancements in the playoffs.

Each season, the majority of contending teams make a couple small moves to give them some added boost, and this particular headline has the same appeal. Experience goes a long way in professional sports, especially in today’s NBA.

The postseason is a long way away in terms of the league’s grueling schedule, but it is not too soon to begin making key changes in order to strengthen the Grizzlies’ chances of earning championship hardware.
