The Washington Wizards are looking to make quick changes to save their season, but the Memphis Grizzlies need to fully ignore that particular mess.

The 2018-19 NBA season has been full of crazy headlines and drama within the first full month of games. Thankfully the Memphis Grizzlies are allowing their play to do all the talking, but opportunities to improve the roster via opponents’ fire sales may soon become real.

In the case of the Washington Wizards, this is a club that could be portrayed as the most underachieving through the first dozen or so games. Heading into Tuesday evening’s slate of games, the Wizards owned a miserable 5-11 record.

The losses are piling up and tempers are flaring in the District. It seems like any day the Wizards will press the rebuilding button, which ultimately would split their core of John Wall, Bradley Beal, and Otto Porter in some form or fashion.

Being as these are some high-profile names, it should be assumed that each and every NBA Front Office will be making calls (or receiving them) involving Washington.

Though the Memphis Grizzlies entered Tuesday in a three-way tie with the Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers for the Western Conference‘s top record, every team should continue to look for ways to improve. After all, that is what has led to multiple NBA Finals appearances this decade for the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers.

In particular, it could potentially be a smart move — being in the right place at the right time — by the Grizzlies if they would inquire about the services of point guard John Wall. According to the ESPN Trade Machine, this is one particular deal that would be deemed acceptable.

Dealing Mike Conley would be a tough pill to swallow, but look at the Toronto Raptors for example. They traded their beloved All-Star in DeMar DeRozan during the offseason in order to receive a slightly better player (Kawhi Leonard).

So far, that deal is paying dividends for the Raptors, though their fan base was in an uproar at first. Talk about high-risk, high-reward…and this is a similar situation if the Memphis Grizzlies were to initiate negotiations.
