Top 10 Things Memphis Grizzlies Fans Should Be Thankful For
Few Back-to-Back Matchups
Through 17 regular season contests, the Memphis Grizzlies have only experienced two back-to-back game scenarios. With the way the NBA has retooled the scheduling format over the past year or so, clubs are getting more downtime between meetings.
The players definitely appreciate the additional rest to keep their bodies energized throughout the grueling 82-game schedule. It is a form of potential injury reduction in some aspect, too.
Pertaining to the Grizzlies’ best-in-the-West record, their remarkable start is partially due to the lack of back-to-back games played thus far.

Memphis owns a 1-1 record in second-game-of-a-back-to-back scenarios. The loss was to the Golden State Warriors prior to their recent locker room drama and the coinciding injuries they have sustained. The victory came against the Dallas Mavericks in impressive fashion, where the Grizzlies held the Mavs to just 88 points.
The lack of back-to-back nights of playing definitely helped center Marc Gasol as he exited October 24th’s game early. That night was a loss to the Sacramento Kings, but with two days of rest, “Big Spain” did not miss any additional time.
Had Gasol not had a full 48 hours to recoup, he likely would have missed his first game of the season. His presence led to a 117-96 home victory over the Phoenix Suns on October 27th.
There are 10 remaining SGOABTB scenarios remaining on Memphis’ 2018-19 schedule, which is much more favorable for the Grizz than in past seasons. This will only increase their odds of sustaining their early-season success.
