6 Players the Memphis Grizzlies Should Target After December 15th
Rodney Hood
The Memphis Grizzlies missed out on snagging a good shooter during the 2014 NBA Draft. With their No. 22 overall pick, Memphis selected Jordan Adams out of UCLA. Had the numerous injuries not have occurred to Aams, it could have paid major dividends.
The pick immediately after Memphis belonged to the Utah Jazz, where they selected Rodney Hood out of Duke University. Hood made a name for himself in Utah, but was later traded midseason to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017-18.
At 26 years of age, Rodney Hood is still relatively young for an NBA shooting guard. He is the shooter and scorer that could lift Memphis to the next level. Thus far in 2018-19 through 27 games (including 27 starts), Hood is shooting 43.8% overall from the field and 37.5% from beyond the arc.
Rodney’s three-point accuracy this season would place him fourth behind Shelvin Mack, JaMychal Green, and Marc Gasol, respectively. He also brings some playmaking ability to the table, currently averaging 2.0 assists in 28.0 minutes per game. Memphis really needs guys that can knock down open shots, and it may be easy to land Hood due to the Cavaliers’ rebuilding season.
With Rodney Hood’s contract expiring at the end of this season and only valued at $3.47 million, a deal could easily get done if Cleveland does not see the former Blue Devil as part of their future plans.
