3 Takeaways From The Memphis Grizzlies Home Loss Against The Brooklyn Nets

Mike Conley’s All-Star Campaign Isn’t Done Yet
Mike Conley has struggled recently but he bounced back in a big way in this game despite the loss. He finished with 31 points which was his highest mark since the previous Brooklyn game.
Though his offensive game was mainly the scoring since he only had two assists he made a big impact on the defensive end with his four steals.
He was making big shots to keep this team in the game but it wasn’t enough. That shouldn’t take anything away from his performance though.

This team would’ve had no chance without him and that’s been the case most nights. He does need to be more consistent though to get the credit he deserves.
That brings his season averages to 20.2 points, 6.2 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game. He is shooting 42% from the floor and 35% from three-point range.
A lot of his NBA All-Star candidacy hinges on the team’s success. They don’t need to be in the playoff picture but if the team’s recent slump continues over the next couple of weeks he has almost no chance.
If they can stay at or even just below .500 I would say it’s possible but it seems unlikely he would be selected with the Grizzlies in 11th place in the West as they currently are.
In the western conference, it’s extremely tough to be selected to an all-star game. Conley has been snubbed many times in his career but is this the time he finally earns a spot?
