Defense

Defensively is where some can legitimately argue Delon Wright has been best so far during his short time in the NBA.

On-Ball Defense

Delon is a very active on-ball defender, but smart, as he does not usually foul a lot. He uses every inch of his limited 6’6.5″ wingspan to cover ground and make it really difficult for guys to go around him, especially considering his slight frame at only 190 pounds soaking wet.

Wright uses extremly good instincts to time his pick-pocket attempts at the ball-handler, averaging a steal despite only playing 20 minutes per game. Delon Wright is an intense, but poised, plus defender, and has elite defensive potential.

Off-Ball/Passing Lanes

Delon Wright plays passing lanes very well as he usually has his arms extended in case of unexpected ball movement near his way. Also, he is one that is aware of his surroundings, such as surprise picks and ball movement.

This new member of the Memphis Grizzlies times attacks very well, even off-ball, as he looks to read the offense and make angle adjustments even while away, essentially sealing a wall with his length. He shows the ability to anchor defenses, calling out plays and helping guys with steals and stopping perimeter penetration.
