Taking Down The Bucks On The Road

The Grizzlies were led by their stars in this road win over the Milwaukee Bucks. They would go on to win 116-113 but not before blowing a large lead as we’ve seen on many occasions.

Memphis went up 82-67 on a Jaren Jackson Jr. three-pointer with 2:30 left to go in the third quarter. They then allowed the Bucks to go on a 25-4 run as they took a 92-86 lead with 9:52 to go. After that, they were able to make shots and get stops on the defensive end but it wouldn’t be Grizzlies basketball without some drama.

The Bucks as a whole didn’t shoot like they normally do as they made just 9-35 three-point attempts but their star players were fantastic. Giannis Antetokounmpo led all scorers with 31 points while Khris Middleton also finished with 25.

Conley and Gasol were both fantastic in this win. Conley had 26 points and 4 assists while Gasol finished with 29 points including six made three-pointers. Brook Lopez for the Bucks was known as the stellar three-point shooting big but Gasol outplayed him on both ends of the floor, inside and out.

Shelvin Mack also had a really good game in this victory. Jackson was in foul trouble like he has been many times which led to expanded minutes for Mack. He finished with 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists in this game.

It was a good all-around game by the Grizzlies as they improved to 8-5 while the Bucks fell to 10-4. This was the start of a five-game winning streak for Memphis before the season started to take a turn for the worst.

It’s also funny to note that five of the nine players who played for the Grizzlies in that game are no longer with the team. That will be the case for many of the games on this list though. It shows how good they were at times and how truly disappointing it was to see that big of a drop off in production over the following weeks.
