Strengths

Jevon Carter’s obvious strength is his defense. His ability to get into the opponent and keep them from getting what they want is for real. He did struggle some against James Harden in one of the matchups due to the big size differential.

Being a smaller guard will make it tough for him to defend some of the top players in the game, but his ability to defend will make it difficult for any opposing point guard to score.

During his college days at West Virginia, he was the point guard on offense and he did so much for them, but the NBA has been a big adjustment for him. He has been able to play off the ball well also even if he hasn’t scored the ball a lot.

Being able to play multiple spots in an offense will go a long way towards his success in the league. While he did struggle to hit shots for most of the season he did show signs of improvement to end the season as well as when he was in the G-League.

In 22 games with the Hustle, he was dominant in many facets. He averaged 18.4 points, 5.9 assists, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game. He also shot the ball well as he made 43% of his shots including 39% from three-point range.

The G-League is much different from the NBA, but he was able to show he has the tools to be successful. It’s more about gaining confidence and continuing to improve at the end of the season he had.
