Robert Pera, Majority Owner of the Memphis Grizzlies

Most NBA fans would not recognize the Memphis Grizzlies’ Majority Owner, Robert Pera. In fact, there are some Grizzlies fans that would not recognize him either. It is not their fault. He would have to show his face in public more often in order for them to identify him as being a part of the organization.

Pera has appeared in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in the past, but he is not a frequent spectator at Grizz games. In the 2018-19 season alone, Peyton Manning took in more games than Robert Pera.

It is fine that Pera does not attend many games — as long as he is doing the managerial aspects of his position. Halfway through the schedule, he took charge and stepped up to the plate to talk about the roster’s future to Marc Gasol and Mike Conley. He knows that it is the end of an era and their departure was bound to happen at some point in time. Pera dealt Gasol and placed Conley on the trade market in the most professional way possible, which is very commendable.

Being as the Memphis Grizzlies’ fan base has heard a lot about Robert Pera’s deep involvement with the team over the past few months — including decisions of firing of Memphis’ head coach and demoting of their General Manager — it is time to make a stronger connection to the people paying to fill FedEx Forum. What better way to do this than to appear at the 2019 NBA Draft Lottery?

Pera is ultimately in charge of the Memphis Grizzlies and the next direction that take, so it makes perfect sense for him to step up once again and take part in the NBA Draft Lottery. Plus, he would appear and speak at the nationally-televised event. This would enable him to not be so much of a mystery man of sorts with the fan base. Maybe this would lead to him attending more games next season, too?
