Romeo Langford

Romeo Langford didn’t have a great season team wise at Indiana, but he certainly didn’t hurt his draft stock as much as some may think. Sure teams would prefer that he helped his team win more games, but they still saw the talent and potential that he possesses.

During his freshman season with the Hoosiers, he averaged 16.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. He showed he can impact the game on the offensive end in many different ways, but he certainly has areas he needs to improve in. His three-point shooting is one of them as he made just 27% of his shots from beyond the arc this season.

Indiana didn’t have a lot of team success, but Langford was still a very good player. One of his best performances was in a road loss against Maryland in which he finished with 28 points and 3 assists on 8-14 shooting including 3-6 from three-point range. He was 9-9 from the free-throw line in that game which is a strength of his he can use to his advantage at the next level.

During an NBA Draft Combine interview with the ESPN crew during their telecast on ESPN2 he said he was capable of becoming a Bradley Beal type player at the next level. The way he can impact the game is similar as they can both play on and off the ball, but Langford isn’t close to the shooter that Beal is.

In today’s NBA versatility is key and that’s a big reason Langford will be successful at the next level. He is extremely talented and is looking like he will be a lottery pick in the June draft. If the Grizzlies want a chance at him, it likely has to be with Miami’s No. 13 pick, and even then he could possibly be off the board, but if they can pick him up, he and Ja Morant could form a dynamic backcourt for the next decade.
