Alex Jensen

Chris Kern: “Alex Jensen would a good choice for the Memphis Grizzlies to make at head coach. He had a successful career playing overseas before starting his career as a basketball coach.

His first stop as an assistant coach was under the late Rick Majerus at Saint Louis. He played for Majerus in college at Utah and stayed on his staff for four years until he was offered the head coaching job for the Canton Charge in the NBA’s D-League.

During his second season, he was named the Coach of the Year in the D-League which led to him being offered an assistant coach job with the Utah Jazz, where he has remained to this day. He also has been an assistant coach for the German national team since 2015.

Jensen is thought of as one of the top assistants in the NBA, so it’s only a matter of time before he gets his shot at being a head coach. He has been key in the development of Utah’s Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert, which is why he would be a good fit in Memphis.

The Grizzlies have their young star in Jaren Jackson Jr. and they need a head coach that they can trust to develop him into a star. No matter who the Grizzlies ultimately hire, that should be a focus for them, and that makes Alex Jensen a great candidate.”
