Mike Conley’s Case

Mike Conley’s career slash line stands currently as 15 points, six assists, and three rebounds in virtually 33 minutes per game over 12 seasons. He shot 44% from the field and 37% from three-point land during the 788 games he has played. Conley was also Second Team All-Defense in the 2012-13 NBA season.

The Ohio State product’s best individual season was this year, where he averaged 21 points, six assists, and three rebounds per game. He has competed to be selected for Team USA every year he has been healthy, although he has not yet been selected for the final roster.

The most team playoff success Conley has experienced was the one time the Memphis Grizzlies appeared in the Western Conference Finals versus the San Antonio Spurs, only to be swept in four games and never to return again. It is also worth noting Mike Conley has never been to the NBA Playoffs before or after being paired with Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph, Tony Allen.

Ironically, all three of the former have been to at least the Conference Finals without Mike now that Marc is in the NBA Finals this season. Conley’s impact on the game will be best remembered for his class, grace, professionalism, and his determination to improve after once being labeled as an NBA Draft bust by some, and a late-bloomer by others inside of the first one-third of his 12 seasons.
