Scouting Report. Forward. 125. Pick Analysis. Florida State. Mfiondu Kabengele. 10. player

A 6’10” foward-center from Canada, Mfiondu Kabengele was dominant in high school, but he was a role player in college. He was the leading scorer on the team at Florida State University. He has a 7’3″ wingspan and the ability to dominate defensively in the post. He blocks shots and can shoot from mid-range and deep.

Last year, he averaged 37% from three-point land, and 64% from the floor. His main weakness is his passing and explosiveness. He is consistently foul-prone on the low block. If he can improve in those areas, he can supply the Hawks with his skill set. His play compares to former Hawks center Al Horford, and the NBA is in his blood as the nephew of Dikembe Mutombo.

The Hawks could use some more size down low with skills like Kabegele’s. He can shoot, block shots, and create space for Trae Young on the perimeter. Plus, he could help create space for John Collins down low. Then he could create space on the pick-‘n’-roll for the Hawks’ wings for three-pointers. The Hawks have an advantage from deep and in the post with this pick.
