Honorable Mention

Also in BIG3 Season Three are a few players that have Memphis Grizzlies ties because they once held a temporary roster spot. Though they may not have received any regulation minutes for the Grizzlies while in the NBA, they still have an important link to the team.

Donte Greene

Donte Greene was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2008 NBA Draft. From there, he was dealt to the Houston Rockets and finally the Sacramento Kings prior to his first regular season game of his rookie year. After four seasons with the Kings as a stretch big, he became a journeyman of sorts, playing in the NBA’s Developmental League as well as overseas.

Upon his return to the NBA, he became a Grizzly once again, but for a little bit longer than the first time around. He sneaked into the postseason with the Grizzlies in 2013, but he still never played in any game with them.

At the time, Memphis was not at all about three-point shooting, let alone stretching their bigs. However, this is why BIG3 will be a great platform for him in 2019. He displayed this sweet outside shot on June 23rd by nailing back-to-back triples for the Killer 3’s, including the game-winner in front of the Indianapolis crowd.

Quentin Richardson

Though Quentin Richardson had a stellar NBA career, he did not actually suit up for the Grizzlies. “Q-Rich” is most popular for his days with the Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks, but at the tail-end of his NBA days, he became the key cog for the Grizzlies to land Zach Randolph via trade in 2009. That was the second time Richardson had been traded within a week’s span, but it gave Memphis arguably the best player in their franchise’s history.

The presence of “Q-Rich” on a BIG3 roster is huge, and could soon have BIG3 fans showing up to arenas decked out in headbands in support of the three-point marksman.

Yakhouba Diawara

In September of 2015, Yakhouba Diawara signed a deal with the Memphis Grizzlies, but it did not last long at all. He did not make the final regular season rsoter, though it was a close race. He lasted just one month with the team, thus never receiving any type of real minutes with Memphis.

In BIG3, hoops fans should do some research and get familiar with the wing. He is a scrappy player who is best known for his defense. He is strong and athletic to boot. This is one candidate that could really come out of nowhere to make a name for himself in BIG3 Season Three.
