2. Josh Jackson is coming to Memphis

Headline: Memphis Grizzlies recall Josh Jackson from the G League.

What it means: Josh Jackson was the fourth overall pick in the 2017 draft, selected by the Phoenix Suns. During his rookie season, it looks like he was being primed to be a key piece of the Suns rebuild, averaging 13.1 points and 4.6 rebounds on 41.7 percent shooting.

While many think that his sophomore season was a bit of a let down, most of them only mean offensively. Defensively his numbers stayed the same, and they were still pretty solid numbers.

Then, in the 2019 offseason, Jackson was traded to the Grizzlies, who sent him to the Memphis Hustle. Part of that was questions about his game, but a bigger part of it was Jackson’s troubles off the court (side note: I’m not linking to any of his past transgressions. It seems like he’s moved on, so are we).

On the Hustle, Jackson thrived, and played phenomenal. He averaged 20.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.4 steals on 44.7 percent field goal shooting, 38.0 percent 3-point shooting, and 60.3 percent free throw shooting.

Jackson will be a good fit in this Memphis rotation, whether they place him with the second-string group, or place him in the starting lineup momentarily to give some ease to the injured Jae Crowder.
