Memphis Grizzlies: Possible targets in the 2020 NBA Draft
2. Isaiah Joe (Arkansas)
Isaiah Joe is a 6’5″ shooting guard with a weight of 165 pounds. Joe is hands-down the best pure shooter in the 2020 NBA Draft, but he lacks in every other category.
In his second year with the Razorbacks, Joe shot 34 percent beyond the 3-point arc, after shooting 41 percent from deep and 89 percent at the free throw line as a freshman.
Isaiah Joe would be an instant difference-maker as a shooter coming off the bench, but his lack of defensive ability would add to the Grizzlies’ issues with perimeter defense. If he would be able to focus his game more on defense than shooting, he could become another great two-way player for the Grizzlies’ roster.
Joe is being compared to a Terrence Ross-style player, but I see more of a Kyle Korver if his defense never manifests. The Grizzlies shouldn’t hesitate to pick Joe if they decide to go all in on a shooter.
