3. How healthy is Justise Winslow?

This lingers as an important variable for the Grizz, who cashed in one of 2020’s most-prized trade chips for a chance to roll the dice on Winslow’s spotty health.

Of course, he promptly got hurt again and missed the entire bubble, which was far from an encouraging start.

Winslow has been absent, on average, for 53 percent of the past four seasons. If you include Miami’s playoff cameos, that number gets even worse.

The good news for Memphis is that he’s only on the books for this season – they can decline his $13 million 2021-22 team option if he breaks again. As such, there’s far less risk in Winslow than Memphis’ last perpetually-injured small forward.

But the opportunity cost could be great. Winslow, at best, would be a versatile stout defender and competent floor-spacer. His playmaking ability makes him an important cog who can take pressure off Morant and Tyus Jones.

At 24, he’s also a perfect fit for the Grizzlies’ developmental timeline. Multi-tool players like Winslow are of immense value to a young team like Memphis that’s still very much feeling itself out.  As their roster evolves and new needs emerge, Winslow’s physique and skill set are malleable enough to slot him into a variety of roles.

Of course, it all starts with his health, a crucial variable to the Grizzlies’ 2020-21 season.
