The Grizzlies can’t defend threes, but they’ve been even worse at shooting threes

This is the modern NBA, where 3-pointers are a huge part of the game. If you can’t defend the 3-point shot, you’re in a lot of trouble. If you also can’t shoot 3-pointers, how do you expect to win anything in this league? It’s no wonder Memphis is so prone to getting blown out when they’re struggling on both ends in the most important part of the game.

Unfortunately, this one isn’t as simple as defending 3-point shooting. Memphis has strong defenders, so defending the 3-point shot can be improved to an extent through a better game plan and will take a drastic step forward when Jaren Jackson Jr. returns.

In terms of actually improving your 3-point percentage, this squad has a long way to go. The addition of rookie Desmond Bane has helped, as he is shooting almost 46% from deep, but the team has been struggling lately.

In the past two games, Memphis has shot 11-64 in their last two games from long range. Taylor Jenkins will have to find a way to get his squad to shoot more threes and make more threes if they want to be competitive.
