Desmond’s defense has been key for the Memphis Grizzlies

Shooting is not the only part of the game that he excels at, either. In fact, against the Washington Wizards, he impressed everybody with a strong display of defense. As goes for any rookie, his ability to keep up with NBA stars on the defensive end of the court was a worry.

He erased any negative thoughts that anybody had about his defense on Wednesday night.

For a good portion of the game, he watch matched up against Russell Westbrook. This wasn’t by coincidence either; it was clear that Taylor Jenkins had game-planned for him to guard the former NBA MVP — a risky move to say the least.

But Bane wasn’t rattled.

Westbrook didn’t have a terrible game, but there were multiple series where he tried to attack Bane, thinking he had the upper hand. It didn’t work out for him. Most of these situations ended with Westbrook on the ground, looking for a foul.
