Memphis Grizzlies trade No. 1: C-

It’s important to remember that this is a trade that would bring the Grizzlies a step forward as a team. Giving up young pieces is necessary. Even though they make a big impact now, they’ll hold the team back down the road without a high ceiling.

Officially, the first trade with the Houston Rockets would look like this:

For the Grizzlies, this would be a decent trade, but probably something that they’d shy away from. The reason behind this is that Kyle Anderson has been playing out of his mind recently. His value is much higher than what is being offered.

Memphis would also not accomplish what they set out to do: dealing out unproven young pieces in exchange for Victor Oladipo.

Instead, they’d be trading Dillon Brooks and Kyle Anderson, who are two of the more established players on this team. In all likelihood, the Rockets would take this deal, but it wouldn’t even be the perfect trade for them.

The next trade benefits both sides more than the first.
