Will the Memphis Grizzlies try to improve via the free agency market?

The Memphis Grizzlies will be active in the buyout market. Even though Gorgui Dieng is a serviceable player, we know that his career with the Grizzlies is likely coming to an end soon. The 31-year old center does not have a place on the NBA’s 2nd-youngest team.

In all likelihood, this will lead to a buyout. Dieng has an extremely heavy $17 million contract, so Memphis will be looking to free themselves of that dead weight.

Once they accomplish this, what’s the next move for the Grizzlies?

It’s hard to say right now. The front office hasn’t given any indication that they would be pursuing anybody in free agency, but if they are able to buy out Dieng’s contract, signing a free agent seems like the only logical pathway.

As previously stated, this team is relatively secure at every position. They don’t have any NBA superstars quite yet, but there isn’t a single glaring weak spot on the roster.
