The Memphis Grizzlies came out of their game against the ice-cold Houston Rockets with a win. It wasn’t easy, but the Grizz got it done in Houston, leveling Memphis back out to an even .500 record.

In a game where Justise Winslow was out and Grayson Allen went down with an injury, the Grizzlies looked to Jonas Valanciunas to guide them. He would do just that, dropping 30 points and 15 rebounds in the process.

Ja Morant didn’t have the flashiest game on the stat sheet, but he stepped up for this team when they needed him, dishing out 8 assists.

Besides those two guys, it was a pretty quiet night from the Grizzlies’ starters. On a night where Memphis was thin at the shooting guard position, rookie Desmond Bane, De’Anthony Melton, and a handful of other bench players showed up to play.

It was another prime example of the Grizzlies simply having more guys who can play strong NBA basketball than the other team. It’s nothing new and something that we saw when Memphis scored a franchise-record amount of bench points in the last matchup between themselves and the Houston Rockets.

That said, this game was a nail-biter. Memphis showed their youth and looked out of control until the very end of the contest. Thankfully, they would finally get it together, finishing their road trip with a 2-2 record.

Here are 4 takeaways from the Grizzlies’ close win against the Houston Rockets. That’s right, you’re getting one more takeaway than usual.
