The Memphis Grizzlies need a strong game from Ja Morant to get a win

Fortunately for the Memphis Grizzlies, they have a strong supporting cast around Ja Morant. On any given night, there are a handful of players who can step up if Morant is having an off-night.

We’ve seen great nights from Jonas Valanciunas, Dillon Brooks, and others. But one thing is clear when the Grizzlies are playing top teams in the NBA. They cannot win the game if Ja Morant has a bad night.

Here are Ja Morant’s stats in the 3-point loss against the Jazz:

  • 32 points
  • 11 assists
  • 4 rebounds
  • 1 turnover

Here are Ja Morant’s stats in the blowout loss against the Jazz the next night:

  • 12 points
  • 4 assists
  • 1 rebound
  • 3 turnovers

If the numbers don’t speak for themselves, I’ll say it. The Grizzlies cannot and will not have a chance against the Utah Jazz on an off-night from Ja Morant. Beating up on worse teams with your bench is fun to do, but this is a playoff team.

Morant has been wildly inconsistent this year, so let’s hope that good Ja shows up to play on Wednesday night.
