Memphis Grizzlies: Justise Winslow out and Grayson Allen questionable vs. Jazz
The Memphis Grizzlies will need all of the firepower that they can get their hands on against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night. The Jazz hold the best record in the NBA and have been red-hot all year long.
The Grizzlies, on the other hand, seem to pick up a loss for every win they tally. They haven’t been consistently bad, but they also have been consistently good for any stretch of the year outside of an early 7-game winning streak.
But against the Jazz, they’ll have to be nothing short of perfect. This is a team that does everything well, so Memphis cannot have an off-game in any category.
The Memphis Grizzlies are set back by two injuries
The Grizzlies will be entering Wednesday night’s game without Justise Winslow, a guy who didn’t suit up for the first half of this season. While that’s definitely a setback, it’s nothing new, as Winslow missed the Grizzlies’ last game against the Rockets.
The primary setback here is at the shooting guard position.
After an awkward tumble on Monday night, the former Duke Blue Devil has been listed as questionable on the injury report. Here’s the full report as of Tuesday night by Grizzlies PR:
The absence of Grayson Allen and Justise Winslow would not be the end of the world for a Grizzlies team that is extremely deep in the middle.
Specifically, Memphis should have confidence in Allen’s replacement in De’Anthony Melton after he had one of the best games of his career against the Houston Rockets. If Melton can shoot as well as Allen, the Grizzlies should be able to pick up right where they left off with the original starting lineup.
That said, he could still play. Questionable does not mean out, but with the way the Grizz have handled injuries this year, it seems likely that he won’t be suiting up tonight.
Winslow, on the other hand, is definitively out. The Grizzlies will miss him on defense, so don’t be surprised if the Jazz run up the score on Memphis on Wednesday night. Hopefully, he’ll be back in the lineup sooner rather than later.
