The Memphis Grizzlies have Duke Basketball ties, helping Matthew Hurt get comfortable

The Duke Basketball team normally has more prospects being talked about in relation to the NBA Draft. That said, the program suffered a down year. They’d miss the tournament for the first time since any one of their rostered players was born, so there weren’t as many high-profile players coming out of that program.

In past years though, they produced some high-level NBA talent. And some of that talent happens to be on the Memphis Grizzlies roster.

Tyus Jones, Grayson Allen, and Justise Winslow are all former Duke basketball players. In fact, the three of them played together for a short stint, winning a national championship for Coach K in 2015.

There would not be a team in the league that could make Matthew Hurt more comfortable as a rookie than the Memphis Grizzlies — it seems like the perfect fit from that perspective. That said, the Grizzlies did not draft any of the Duke players currently on their roster, so it’s unknown whether or not they would be willing to go after a player from that University.

If they gave it a try, I think everybody would find that this could be a win-win for both parties. That said, there’s more to this equation.
