The Memphis Grizzlies took on the Minnesota Timberwolves in a game that was close all the way through. After Memphis took an early lead, they surrendered a couple of runs against a pesky Timberwolves team.

Minnesota re-entered the game via their young star, Anthony Edwards, who scored 42 points in a dominating performance. Unfortunately for him, the rest of his team wasn’t good enough to get the job done.

That said, the young forward had an incredible performance in which he couldn’t miss from beyond the 3-point line. He would hit 8-9 long-range shots, with the only miss coming as a desperation shot at the buzzer.

Edwards would finish with 42 points on 17-22 shooting. That wasn’t the only area where he had an impact, either. He added on 7 assists, 6 rebounds, a block, and a steal. It was one of the best all-around performances by any player this season.

Memphis Grizzlies PG Ja Morant turned this into a shootout between future stars

Thankfully for the Grizzlies, this wasn’t a one-way scoring onslaught. The Grizzlies’ very own star in Ja Morant would step up, putting the ball in the basket for each of Anthony Edwards’ 3-pointer, turning this into a shootout.

Morant finished his game with 37 points, marking his second-highest scoring total of the season. He would also finish the game with 10 assists, completing a double-double while collecting 2 steals and a block.

In this contest, Morant would get the better of Edwards, but the two showed respect for one another after the conclusion of the game with a quick conversation. Morant would tweet about the interaction, as seen below.

The conversation concluded with both players nodding, followed by Ja Morant patting Anthony Edwards on the chest. This conversation was likely the first of many between these two stars. This game was likely the first offensive shootout that we’ll see between the very same player.

We talk about Morant’s youth at the age of 21, but he’s two years older than Edwards, who is still 19 years old at the present moment. You’ll be watching these players ten years from now, so get used to legendary matchups like this.
