Memphis Grizzlies G Dillon Brooks became one of the feistiest defenders in the league

After you look through Dillon Brooks’ offense, which took big strides in 2021, your attention will shift to the defensive end. It was here that Brooks did more than anybody could have asked of him on the season.

He became the league’s next pesky defender. Think Patrick Beverley, Matthew Dellevadova, and Draymond Green all mixed into a single player. That’s what Brooks was in 2021.

As mentioned, his versatility on defense is the impressive part. Brooks has the quickness to defend guards like Steph Curry, who he held to 2-10 shooting, and the size to stand up to larger players like LeBron James. Outside of centers, Brooks will be guarding the opposing team’s best player on any given night.

And the best part is that he’s ready to stand up to the challenge. There is no moment too big for the former Oregon Duck.

His attitude shows that. It’s the reason why many fans have begun to refer to him as “Villain” Brooks, as he has become one of the most love-or-hate players in the league. His intensity can be considered extra by many, but for Grizzlies fans, he is the heart and soul of this team.

Brooks still has some kinks to iron out in his game, but 2021 was huge for him. Most importantly, he could be the enforcer that every great NBA team has had.
