As has become an annual trend, the Memphis Grizzlies are a team that is coming up as a destination for some of the NBA’s stars. Even though Memphis hasn’t made a blockbuster trade to bring in strong talent just yet, the way their squad is trending has experts believing that they’ll become a team that does just that.

Right now, the Grizzlies have a strong young core. They made the playoffs as the youngest squad competing, but seem to be just short. Ideally, they’d be able to sign a second star player to join Ja Morant, who carried the team on his back to the NBA Playoffs, where he averaged over 30 points per game, a higher total than any Memphis Grizzlies player ever.

Recently, Inquisitor drew up a trade that could bring that relief to Beale Street.

The Memphis Grizzlies would have to give up a lot but could bring Zach LaVine to the team

Let me start by saying that I’m giving my opinion on this trade. If you want the original reasoning and rationale, go read the original trade hypothetical by Bleacher Report. I will be talking about whether or not this seems like a strong trade, weighing out each side.

That said, this is an extremely tantalizing trade, even if it sees the Grizz give away a lot of their trade capital. Here’s what the deal looks like.

Memphis Grizzlies get: Zach LaVine. That’s it.

Chicago Bulls get: Grayson Allen, Desmond Bane, De’Anthony Melton, 2021 No. 17 (first-round) pick, 2023 first-round pick (top-three protection), 2024 first-round pick (more favorable from Golden State and Memphis)

First, we’ll get into the positives of this trade.
