Kyle Lowry, a guard out of Villanova, was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies with the 24th overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft.

Lowry enjoyed a big growth year from his rookie to his sophomore season in the NBA. Lowry averaged 8.6 points per game and 3.6 assists per game during his time with the Grizzlies. Much to the misfortune of Lowry, the Grizzlies drafted Mike Conley fourth overall in the 2007 NBA Draft— a player who ended up being a cornerstone for the franchise.

The two played the same position, a redundancy that turned Lowry into a trade asset.  After just two and half seasons, Lowry was traded to the Houston Rockets at the 2009 NBA trade deadline.

Lowry is perhaps best known for his tenure with the Toronto Raptors, where he played from 2012 through 2021. His move to the Raptors allowed him to flourish, averaging 17.5 points and 7.1 assists per game.

Lowry was instrumental in helping the Raptors win the first championship in franchise history after the team defeated the Golden State Warriors to win the 2019 NBA Championship.

Kyle Lowry continues to be one of the players that fans regret the Memphis Grizzlies letting get away.

Not only did Lowry win a championship with the Raptors, but he’s also a 6-time All-Star and has been named to one All-NBA Team.

Heading into the 2021-2022 season, Lowry will suit up as a member of the Miami Heat, after signing with the team in the offseason. He’ll be competing to win his second championship.
